Choosing a cat collar or harness
A cat collar must have a breakaway buckle that opens if it snags, so the cat can never be trapped. Fit it so two fingers slide underneath. Reflective trim helps on dark roads and a tag holder makes it easy to add your phone number. Kittens need a small, lightweight collar.
For walking, choose a vest-style harness that fastens around the chest rather than a figure-of-eight, as it is much harder to wriggle out of. Introduce it indoors for a few minutes a day before going outside.
