This cat scratcher lounger is a compact low-angled scratch pad measuring 39 x 32 x 15.5 cm, with no assembly needed.

Why we picked it

The usual mistake with scratchers is buying one good one. Cats do not scratch in one place — they scratch when they wake up and when they come into a room, which is why the sofa arm by the door gets destroyed while the expensive post in the corner stays pristine. Two or three small scratchers in the right spots will save your furniture better than one tall post in the wrong one.

That is what this is for. It is small, cheap enough to buy a few of, and the low angle suits cats that scratch on the flat but like something to lean into. Put one where your cat sleeps and one by the door they use most.

Two things to be straight about. At 39 cm it is too short for a grown cat to stretch out on fully — this is a second scratcher, not your main one. And the supplier's own paperwork gives three different answers on what it is made of, so rather than pick the flattering one we have left the material blank below until we have a straight answer. If that matters to you, ask us before you order.

  • Small footprint — 39 x 32 cm, fits beside a sofa or a doorway
  • Low angle for cats that scratch horizontally
  • Doubles as a place to sit
  • Arrives ready to use, no assembly
  • Cheap enough to put one in every room they use
  • Light enough to move while you work out the right spot

Where to put it: Not where you want the cat to be — where the cat already is. The two spots that work are beside wherever they sleep, because scratching is the first thing they do on waking, and just inside the doorway they use most. If your sofa arm is already shredded, put this directly in front of it.

What's in the box

  • 1 x cat scratcher lounger

Setting up

Take it out and put it down — there is nothing to build. Spend your effort on placement instead. Leave it in one spot for a week before deciding it does not work; if it is still untouched, move it closer to where the cat sleeps rather than giving up. A pinch of catnip on it helps if you have some.

Using it safely

Keep it on a surface where it will not slide out from under them. Trim any loose threads or fibres your cat works free, and replace it once the surface is worn through — a collapsed scratching surface can catch a claw. Not a chew toy; if your cat eats pieces of it rather than shredding them, take it away.

Care guide

Vacuum it over and around — some shedding is normal and means it is being used. Wipe with a barely damp cloth only, and never soak it. Turn it round every few weeks so the wear spreads rather than concentrating in one groove.

FAQs

What is it actually made of?

We do not know yet, and we are not going to make it up. The supplier's own documentation says cardboard in one place, MDF and sisal in another, and solid wood and hemp in a third. We are getting a straight answer from the factory. If the material is the deciding factor for you, message us and we will tell you what we have confirmed before you order, or wait until this page says so.

Is it big enough for a full-grown cat?

To sit and scratch on, yes. To stretch out on full length, no — 39 cm is short for that. Treat it as a second scratcher in a well-chosen spot. For a main scratcher, look at our taller posts.

Should I buy one or several?

Several, if your furniture is already taking damage. Cats scratch where they wake and where they enter a room, so covering two or three of those spots does more good than one scratcher anywhere else in the house.

Can I replace the scratching surface?

No, it is a single piece. If a replaceable board matters, our 63 cm post is built for exactly that.
