This 5 litre automatic cat feeder dispenses from a single hopper into two stainless bowls, with 1 to 4 meals a day and 1 to 10 portions per meal.

Why we picked it

Two cats and one feeder usually means one cat eating both breakfasts. This splits every dispense between two bowls set apart on the same unit, so both cats get somewhere of their own to stand. It will not stop a determined bully moving between bowls — nothing short of a microchip feeder does — but separating the bowls removes the shoulder-to-shoulder crowding that causes most mealtime scrapping.

The bowls are stainless. That matters more in a two-cat house than a one-cat house: twice the saliva, twice the leftovers, and plastic bowls develop fine scratches that hold bacteria and are the usual culprit behind feline chin acne. Steel wipes clean properly.

Practical details done right: the lid is clear, so you can see the food level from across the kitchen rather than lifting it every day, and the base is triangular, which is a genuinely more stable footprint than a square one when a cat leans into it. Controls are physical buttons with a display — reduce, plus, set, lock and feed — and the lock stops a cat changing your schedule by standing on it.

Three honest things. This has no app, no wi-fi and no camera — it is a self-contained timer feeder. If you want to feed from your phone, our 5L feeder with app control is the one. Second, it is dry kibble only; a hopper feeder cannot handle wet food, and anything that says otherwise is wrong. Third, the manufacturer publishes no dimensions, no power specification and no gram weight per portion, so we are not quoting any of them — weigh a test portion when it arrives and set your schedule from that.

  • 5 litre hopper feeding two separate stainless bowls
  • 1 to 4 meals a day, 1 to 10 portions per meal
  • Clear lid — check the level at a glance
  • Triangular base, more stable than a square footprint
  • Button lock so a cat cannot change the schedule
  • Manufacturer claims it feeds two cats for 10 days

Detail Info
Capacity 5 litres
Bowls Two, stainless
Meals per day 1 to 4
Portions per meal 1 to 10
App or camera No — onboard controls only
Food type Dry kibble only
Honest about two cats: One hopper splitting into two bowls feeds two cats at once, which solves crowding. It cannot ration them individually — a faster eater will still finish and move across. If one of your cats is on a weight plan or a prescription diet, you need a microchip feeder, not this.

What's in the box

  • 1 x automatic feeder with two bowls
  • 1 x instruction manual

Setting up

Wash and fully dry the hopper and both bowls before the first fill — damp parts clump kibble and clumped kibble is how jams start. Set your schedule, then run a manual feed and weigh what lands in each bowl, because no gram figure is published and guessing is how cats get overfed. Stand it on a hard level floor against a wall. Engage the button lock once you are happy with the schedule.

Using it safely

Dry kibble only. Keep the lid closed and the unit somewhere it cannot be pushed over, even with the triangular base. Do not rely on it as the only food source while you are away for more than two or three days — hopper feeders jam and nobody is there to notice. If either cat is on a prescription or weight-management diet, agree portions with your vet, and bear in mind this feeder cannot tell your two cats apart.

Care guide

Lift both bowls out and wash them weekly in hot soapy water; stainless makes that easy and it matters more with two cats sharing. Strip and clean the hopper and chute monthly, ideally when nearly empty, and dry everything completely before refilling — damp parts are the main cause of jamming. Brush kibble dust out of the chute between cleans; it builds up and slows the flow long before it blocks outright.

FAQs

Can I use wet food in it?

No. It is a hopper dispenser, so dry kibble only. Wet food will not travel down the chute and will spoil.

Does it have an app?

No — it is controlled entirely from the buttons and display on the unit. If you want phone control, look at our 5L feeder with app control.

Will it stop one cat eating the other's food?

No. It serves both bowls at once from one hopper, which stops them crowding each other, but a faster eater can still finish and move across. Individual rationing needs a microchip feeder.

How much is one portion?

The manufacturer does not publish a gram weight, so weigh a test portion when it arrives and build your schedule from that. We would rather say that than invent a number.
