This pet feeding station cabinet stands 82cm tall in grey MDF, with two removable bowls in a pull-out drawer at the base, an enclosed storage cabinet, an open shelf and three hooks for leads.

Why we picked it

Two bowls, a sack of food, a bag of treats, two leads and a bundle of poo bags. That is what a dog adds to a kitchen, and it is usually spread across the floor and three different cupboards. This puts the lot in one piece of furniture at side-table height, and the part that makes it work is the drawer: when your dog has finished, the bowls slide away out of sight. No bowls underfoot, no bowls on show when people come round.

At 61 x 35.6 x 82cm it is genuinely furniture rather than a pet accessory. The countertop is a usable surface, the enclosed cabinet takes a sack of food behind a door, there is an open shelf and a food bag compartment, and three hooks on the side keep leads off the bannister. It works as a hall console or an end table that happens to feed your dog.

One thing to be clear about, because the supplier's title is misleading. The bowls sit in a drawer at the base of the unit, close to floor level. This is not an elevated feeder, and it will not help a tall or older dog that struggles to stoop. If posture is what you are solving, our 35.5cm raised feeder is the right product and this is not. Buy this one for storage and tidiness.

Two more honest points: at 22kg assembled it is a two-person lift and it arrives flat-packed, so set aside an evening. And no weight limits are published for the countertop or shelves, so we are not going to quote any — treat it as light-duty furniture rather than something to stand a television on.

Will it fit: Measure 61cm of wall and 36cm of depth, and check the drawer has room to slide fully out at the front. At 82cm it sits at worktop-adjacent height, so it lines up with most kitchen units and works as a hall console. If you want the bowls at chest height for a big dog, this is the wrong product — take the 35.5cm raised feeder.

What's in the box

  • 1 x feeding station cabinet (flat-packed)
  • 2 x removable feeder bowls
  • 3 x side hooks
  • 1 x fixings pack and instructions

Setting up

Build it on a soft surface so you do not mark the panels, and get a second pair of hands for standing it up — 22kg of assembled MDF is awkward alone. Tighten every fixing fully before it takes weight; MDF furniture relies on all of them being snug to stay square. Stand it on a level floor against a wall, and check the bottom drawer runs freely before you load the cabinet. Let your dog find the bowls in the open drawer a few times before you start sliding it shut between meals.

Using it safely

Keep the heavy things low — a sack of food belongs in the bottom cabinet, not on the countertop. No load ratings are published, so treat the top as light-duty. Do not let a dog stand or climb on it. Slide the drawer shut only when your dog has finished and moved away, so nobody gets a nose caught, and keep anything they should not reach out of the open shelf if they are tall enough to help themselves.

Care guide

Lift both bowls out and wash them in hot soapy water daily. Wipe the MDF with a damp cloth and dry it straight away — standing water swells the board at the edges, and that is the one thing that will shorten this cabinet's life. Dry any splashes inside the drawer rather than leaving them. Check the fixings every few months, especially after moving it, and keep the drawer runners clear of spilled kibble.

FAQs

Are the bowls raised up for a big dog?

No. They sit in a pull-out drawer at the base, near floor level. If you need a raised feeding height for a tall or older dog, our 35.5cm raised feeder is the one to get.

Will a full sack of food fit inside?

The enclosed cabinet is 48.3 x 23.5 x 24.1cm, which takes a decanted container or a medium sack. A large 15kg sack is likely to need decanting — measure yours against those figures.

How hard is it to put together?

It is flat-packed MDF furniture with fixings and instructions — an evening's job. Get help standing it upright; assembled it is 22kg.

Can I put things on top of it?

Light items, yes — it is designed as a usable countertop. No load limit is published, so we would not stand anything heavy on it.

Is it suitable for cats as well as dogs?

Yes. The bowls are a sensible size for either, and the hideaway drawer suits a cat that free-feeds just as well.
